Archiving in Entourage....where is this explained.???

J

john.

I have searched this forum and several other places and I cannot seem
to locate a definitive document that decribes how to Archive ( and
recover it) mail etc in Entourage.

My problem is that I have three separate accounts configured two are
imap and one is Pop, within the configuration I have set up rules and
folders on the computer that are used to store my mail depending on
subject etc... Several months ago I moved from Outlook and my
process used to be that every month I would archive mail for that
month, and if I needed it i could open the subject archive folder and
look in the specific folder for the mail.

I get the impression that in Entourage this is not possible, as it
does not keep the folder structure during the archive ... is this
correct? and also some people have been indicating that as soon as you
archive then there are difficulties in re accessing the mail in the
achive.

Any comments would be grateful

Thanks

Entourage does things a bit differently. Many features are different in
Entourage from Outlook, but workaround can generally be found.

I find that most people archive their mail that is in folders "On My
Computer" once a year. Mail that is on the server like IMAP and Exchange
accounts can be moved to folders "On My Computer". Time seems to depend on
server limits for this option.

Problems with switching Identities is you have to quit all open Office
applications to switch.

There are some third party products that will allow you to do what you are
asking.

EagleFiler
Entourage Email Archive X
eMessage Archiver (eMA)
DEVONthink

Check this page for links to these and some other third party options:

If you select to archive in a separate Identity, you can duplicate the
Identity then trim. This preserves the current folder structure.

Cheers and Welcome to Mac! I have a few tips and links posted to help new
