archiving old email?

J

Jim Smith

What is the best way to archive directories of email that I do not need
to access on a regular basis? I would also like to do this for my sent
items and deleted items.

If I drag the folder from Entourage to the desktop it creates a .mbox
file. Will this file have everything in it in case I need to access the
email at a later time?

Thanks.

It sure will. And the really great news is that it's just text. So it's
compact, and any text processor can open it. An excellent way to
archive. m.

And if there's some reason why you'd want the messages back in Entourage
itself (for replying to, for example) you can just drag the .mbox file back
in, or double-click it, which does the same thing. But for quick searching,
you can drag it onto TextEdit, BBEdit, or any text editor.
