Archiving Old Entourage emails

Is there a way to archive the last year's emails? I have thousands and
do not wish to delete them. I want to be able to access them if I need
to look up an old email for instance.

Your suggestions are most welcome.

Thanks

Is there a way to archive the last year's emails? I have thousands and
do not wish to delete them. I want to be able to access them if I need
to look up an old email for instance.

There are a couple of different way to do this in Entourage.

1. Duplicate your current identity and rename the copy 2003. Now you can
delete all 2003 email from your Main (default name) identity using a custom
view. To view your old mail, all you have to do is switch identities.

Info on Custom Views:

2. Create a custom view for mail in 2003 and older. Drag the icon for the
custom view to your desktop. This creates an MBOX file. Create a new
Identity and name it 2003. Open the 2003 identity. Drag the MBOX file on
your desktop to the folder window. When you are satisfied that your mail
transferred, you can then delete the old email.

Tip: Backup the MBOX file on CD or DVD.

***An MBOX file is a specially-constructed text file, usable by any text
editor, which contains mail messages within the file (some other email
programs also use them).

This functionality is used in Entourage: If you drag a folder of messages to
the desktop, Entourage will automatically create an MBOX file. You can use
these to store messages and reduce the size of your database.

Note subfolders won¹t be included; you need to drag them separately. Better
