Archiving Outlook Express Messages

Is this the correct forum for asking questions about Outlook Express?

I am running Windowa 97 > Outlook Express 6 > Windows XP Home Edition.

I do not delete my mail messages preferring to keep them in various folders.
OK, so I'm a string saver, but does that make me a bad guy.

Since my mail is clogging up my hard drive, I would like to archive
(download, transfer, or whatever) old mail to a CD. But I want the ability
to read some old mail directly from the CD.

Can someone tell me if this is possible? I have searched various sources of
info, but have not found anything to help. This must be so simple that it
deserves no coverage or so impossible that it isn't covered in the help
files.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

No, this is not the right forum. OE is part of Windows, not Office. You
cannot archive OE files. You can copy OE's dbx files to removable media to
save or export the files, but you'd be better off using Outlook instead so
you can archive and do much more. You will not be able to read the OE files
