Archiving to reduce PST file size

W

Wilson Teo

My Outlook 2007 is running terribly slow on my Vista. I suspect it may be due
to my PST file which is almost 5GB.

Ive been archiving my old emails hoping that it would improve the
efficiency. However, I realised that my outlook.pst remains the same size.
Since I no longer have the emails in the data file, shouldnt the size be
reduced accordingly?

Are there any other ways to speed things up?

Please advise.

In general it would return space over time during automated compression
during idle time. To force it right click the root of your folder set->
Properties-> Advanced-> Compact Now

This could take a while depending on how much you have removed from the
pst-file.
