Something odd has happened to Word on my computer. Although ppt and other
Office functions seem to be ok, when I start to open a Word doc I get the
blank page with a pop up over it saying
" This document couldn't be registered. It will not be possible to creat
links from other documents to this document". I click on 'OK' ( as I have
little choice) and get the SAME answer but with the addition of
"(C:\...\STARTUP\EN6CWYW.dot)" at the end of the second sentence.
I click on OK again and get a blank document which I CANT SAVE ANYWHERE.
Would really appreciate any help I can get - wondering if this is in any way
linked to the facts that
1. I can not defragment ('it' just ignores me when I click on defragment' or
'analyse' - have raised this question in other groups too)
2. I get the occasional strange pop up saying
"Generic Host Process for Win32 Services encountered an error and needed to
close" which does nothing but disappear when I click on 'OK'
3. and the whole system seems to be running very slowly...popdown menus
appear line by line, e.g.....?
I seem to have 11.4GB free space, 26.7GB used on my local disk. Really no
idea what is going on.
Help gratefully appreciated; am writing up PhD and this is driving me
crazier than I already am!
