.asf files no longer playing in PPT slides

Hi...

I have many PowerPoint presentations I use in the
classroom for lessons. These presentations sometimes
include embedded video links (.asf files) that will
either run automatically or by click command.

However, this fall, I have not been able to run any
within the presentation without first opening Windows
Media Player (vers. 9 and 10). What happened?

FYI: Windows Service Pack 2 and new Norton AntiVirus 2005
have been installed since September (Norton plug-in for
Office apps since disabled).

PLEASE HELP! Any fix available yet?

Thanks!

why do you think they are embedded?
do these files work in powerpoint/windows mci player?
start -> run -> mplay32
I'm guessing you have ppt2003?
Try turning down the video hardware acceleration
