Asking for a receipt in an email or delivery notification

Is there any way of determining whether an email recipient has received an
email I have sent? I have just swapped from outlook and Lotus Notes, and
find this function useful, however I cannot find any option in Entourage.

Keep in mind that return receipts are not a guaranteed that a message
has necessarily been received or read. Most, if not all, mail
applications can either ignore them altogether or allow the user to
refuse sending the receipt.
