Assigning a Macro to object, textbox, etc.

Is there a way to assign a macro to an object or text box or even hyperlink
text within the body of Word? I'm used to simply adding a command button on
the sheet in Excel, but does not seem to be an equivalent in word. I was
excited when I found the drop down on the floating textbox toolbar that led
to the customize dialog, but that turned out to be just for the toolbars. I
could not see any way to attach it to the textbox.

My macro turns hidden text on and off. Distributing the solution with a
button embedded in the text would be more obvious than a toolbar button.

Any help appreciated
TIA

Would this embedded object need to be removed at printing time?

View->Toolbars->Control Toolbox. There's a command button and such just like
in Excel. I use them all the time.
