Assigning tasks (and accept or decline)

I'm hoping that someone can help me troubleshoot a problem I'm having
with Outlook 2002. I'm trying to assign and accept assigned tasks in
outlook. Unfortunetly, when someone assigns a task to me (or vice
versa) the task does not become part of my task list. The email just
shows up as a normal text email with the task information. The way it
supposed to work is that I would receive the task assignment request
and it would have an "accept" or "decline" button for me to chose from
(Accepting the task would add it to my task list). The "accept" &
"decline" buttons are nowhere to be found. Has anybody run into a
problem like this? Please help.

Is this happening from all Senders?
What format are the emails being received as? What server are you suing?
First update to the latest Office XP Service pack.
