Why does a long file name change when arriving elsewhere?

Hi Bill

I regularly send jpg files for photography competitions which have a naming protocol. When the files arrive they can be opened but the name has changed and causes difficulty with subsequent workflow. e.g.
File name sent Goldcrest by Richard Strittmatter.jpg
File name on arrival Goldcrest by Richard#7CDBF6.jpg

I would put the files in a folder and zip them.

Entourage won't rename files but possibly something else like the
sending or receiving mail server will do this.

Can you test sending a message to yourself with a second account?
Preferably the second account would be with a different E-mail service too.

I have the same issue when just sending one file with a somewhat long file name.
I sent:
ABCDGrew_AbperianAudit_OP29343_02062009.docx

But Evan received it as:
ABCDGrew_AbperianAud#2FF5D.docx

I checked my outbox and I do not see the change there. Maybe Exchange is having an issue with Entourage. Works fine with same file using a PC.

I provided a test in another message in this thread. Please try that.

details of your own problem, include your software versions and what
you've tried already to fix the problem.
