Attachment not visible in opened email

I am using Outlook 2003 SP2 attached to our company's exchange server. I can
see the attachment "clip" is my list of e-mails. About 90% of the time, when
I open the email, I can't see or access the attachment from within the email.
If I then forward the email, the window that comes up shows and allows me to
open the attachment. If I then quit the forward window and the original email
window and start over, as soon as I open the original email, I can then see
the attachment. How can I fix this?
