Attachment window

Hi, I would like to know if there is an option to keep the attachment window
open by default in Entourage when you create a new e-mail.
This option was available in Entourage X but in 2004 it doesn't stay open
any more.

It seams odd to me that the option was available in Office X but not in
Office 2004 ... or is there a particular reason that they left it out?

Hi Brias,

I don't remember this being an option in Entourage v.X, but then again, I
haven't used it in a while, so I might have forgotten about it. As far as I
know, the attachment section stays open if it has been expanded before, and
it will remain closed if it has been closed before. Is that not the case for
you?

Hi Michel
In Entourage X the section stays open when you use it and in 2004 it is
"closed" by default also after you send an e-mail with an attachment.
I send a lot of e-mail with attachments and would be happy if it would stay
open.
I am completely up to date to version 11.3.4 It seems so strange to me that
the option is available in X and not in 2004.
So that's why I asked the question, according to your answer it should stay
open???

Hi Brias,

I did not answer because I didn't really know what else to suggest. On my
machine, running Entourage 2004, everything happens the way I described it,
i.e. the attachment pane stays open once it has been expanded.

I am pretty sure this is related to the bug where the Calendar Event
window does not retain its size an position on the screen (see thread
titled "Change window size for appointments (Calendar Event)?")

I tried everything ... new Mac user, new install after deleting the complete
previous install, deleted the prefs, nothing works.
Not even when I saved 1 message. Yhe next one just comes up with the
attachment window closed.

It should be in whatever state you leave it in. If he views attachments
in a message window, then closes the message window, the next message
window he opens should also have attachments visible.

This is how it used to work in old versions of Office 2004, and in
Office X. Only in recent versions of Office 2004 has this started
malfunctioning.

I send most of my mail with attachments and send around 300 a day for work.
For me it would save time if the attachment window would stay open and JR is
right it was working fine before and in the previous X version.

I can see why you would want it open. Since it¹s now, let¹s try to find a
workaround. Do you use cmd-E to add an attachment? Have you tried dragging
to the Entourage icon in the Dock?

Just a guess, the window behavior you are seeing could be a change in the OS
and not Entourage. The only way to test for this would be to test using
older software.

Another thought....since you send so many attachments, do you use a rule to
remove outgoing attachments from your email? Since you already have them on
your computer it would help keep your database smaller. The only problem
with this is the possibility of removing a file you would need referenced.
For business this could be problematic.
