Attachments causing lock-up

When I get an email with an attachment, Outlook locks up
as soon as I put the cursor on the email.

This isn't happening with infected attachments, but with
all attachments.

If I right-click on the message name and left-click on
open, it opens fine. If I left-click directly on the
message name, it locks up.

I use Norton Anti-Virus and am very careful not to open
unexpected attachments, so a virus seems unlikely.

I would try running the "Detect and Repair" option from
the Outlook HELP Menu.
