Attachments disappear while writing email

I'm using Entourage 2004 w/ Exchange server. I've been using it for, well 5
years now, and only now have seen the following weird behavior. If I'm
writing an email, and add some attachments, and keep writing, sometimes the
attachments get removed - the attachments window is blank again and I have
to re-attach. What's going on?!?

New behavior to me. I would look to your server as the culprit.
