Attachments lost when forwarding mail

L

Lx Ager

For some reason when I forward a message that contains an attachment, the
original attached file is not automatically included. This hasn't always
been the case and I can't find any preference that changes this.

Any ideas what could be happening?

Attachments are not included in forwarded messages. Embedded images
sometimes are - it depends on the format of the email and the means by which
the image is embedded.

Actually, attachments should be always included when forwarding or
redirecting, never when replying. There's no preference for this, so if it's
not working I'm not sure what's going on.

Pretty irritating. This must have started recently. With the mess my desktop
is in I'll never find those attachments!
I notice you can drag the attachment directly to the forwarded message but
it is automagically renamed by replacing the last character of the filename
with a digit.

Bizarre! Another Microsoft booby trap.

Tip: in OS X, drag the folder Desktop the Dock. Now when you click on the
folder it will show you everything on your desktop. Use Column or List View
to see contents.

If it's renaming it with a digit, then it means the attachment is already
there. Have you ever noticed that when you download a file a second time,
the Finder adds a digit to the file name.
