I have been using Entourage for quite a while. For some reason, in the
last few days I am not getting all my attachments. The sender says
there is one there but I don't have it. When I check my email through
the web there it is! Also, the attachments that I am getting are
"grayed" out and won't open. When I try to open them I get messages
such as "Preview can't open this file" when it's just a .jpg. Also I
got a Word document today that when I tried to open it, I got the
window with all the alternatives for opening it--rich text, MS-Dos etc.
I don't know what is going on. This has only been for the last several
days. I am running OS X 10.4.2
Can someone please help?

The message is probably only partly downloaded.

In the account settings (tools menu; 'accounts'), under the options tab you
can set a maximum size of message to download. If the message is bigger than
that, only the first part is downloaded, in which case you have to manually
select 'download message' from the yellow status bar at the top of the
messgae window - then the message will be completely downloaded at the next
connection to the server.

I run into this sometimes when the message has gone through one or more
Exchange servers on its way to me. Sometimes I'll be missing some or all of
the message body as well. (Entourage X on OS 10.3.9) Never found a way
around it - except sometimes to 'view source'.
