Often we will stuff files to send as an attachment. The stuffed file on the
desktop may be under 10 mg. We we add the attachment to Entourage, the file
size increases to 12 mg. I cannot find a reason this would happen.

Does anyone know?

We are using Drop Stuff 8.0.2
Tiger 10.4.2
Entourage 11.1.0 (040913)

Are you saying that the Finder says it's 10 MB and then later, after adding
the attachment to Entourage, the Finder says it's 12 MB? Or are you
comparing the Finder's reported size to Entourage's reported size?

Entourage must encode binary files to send them, and any encoding strategy
(uuencode, binhex, base64) is going to increase the file size by a standard
ratio.

As Nathan said, the encoding process adds some 'overhead' to the filesize
and in my experience, Appledouble is worst for this file bloat. Bear in
mind that it is still best overall if you aren't sure about what encoding
setting to use.
