attempted to send e-mail

I attempted to send an e-mail with a large attachment. After about 6
hrs. it has not gone through and Entourage keeps locking up. I am not
able to get into Entourage and delete that e-mail from my Outbox before
it starts locking up again. If I am able to get into my Outbox it will
not let me click on the message to delete it. Help in resolving this
will be greatly appreciated!!!

Thank you.

A few things suggest themselves - your problem may not be directly
related to the email and attachment - I've also found my version of
Entourage locks up when it tries to download an email that has already
been downloaded, but which hasn't yet been deleted from the mail server
because of a previous crash. In this case, I've found accessing my
emails through my ISPs webmail service and deleting the offending email
works a treat. This has been the solution for me in about 9 out of 10
cases with the symptoms you describe.

Also, are you using Office X or version 11? Office X locks up when the
database file (inside Documents>Microsoft User Data>Office 2004
Identities (or Office X identities)>[name of user account]) reaches
2Gb, in which case you'll need to stop it from sending or receiving
when it starts up, switch identity (command-alt-q) and then rebuild the
database (hold down the alt key while starting up). Even after you've
deleted emails in Entourage, they still hang around in the database
file until you rebuild it.

If you have Entourage 2004, try launching Entourage with the Shift key
depressed to disable schedules from running automatically on launch. Then,
go to View > Preview Pane > None to turn it off, and select the message.
You might then be able to delete it, and then delete it from the "Deleted
Items" folder.

If that doesn't work, try rebuilding the database and then attempt the above
procedure again.

In Entourage 2004, you must launch the Microsoft Database Utility.
1. Launch Entourage, holding down the ³Option² key. Or, launch the
Database Utility separately; it is located in HD/Applications/Microsoft
Office 2004/Office/.
2. If you are prompted, allow the Database Utility to quit open Office
applications.
3. Once the Database Utility is open, select your identity from the list at
the top.
4. Click the ³Rebuild Database² button, and click ³Continue.²

In Entourage X, first go to Entourage > Turn Off Office Notifications. Now,
quit Entourage, and then restart Entourage holding down the Option key.
When the Rebuild dialog box comes up, choose to do a Typical Rebuild. If
that does not fix the problem, repeat the procedure, instead opting to do
the Advanced Rebuild.

In Entourage 2001, quit Entourage, and then restart Entourage holding down
the Option key. When the Rebuild dialog box comes up, choose to do a
Typical Rebuild. If that does not fix the problem, repeat the procedure,
instead opting to do the Advanced Rebuild.

In the future, please state which version of Entourage you're using.
