Atutomatically get mail & weird display problem

Hi all,

I've been reading this newsgroup and I really appreciate all of the cool
tips. Several things.

1. I cannot get Entourage to receive the mail from my IMAP server (.mac) It
will not check for messages unless I click on the inbox for each account. I
have instructed it to send and receive automatically every 5 minutes by
setting up a schedule. It doesn't work

2. Whenever I open up a new window to write an e-mail message or a new
contact. A weird thing happens. The subject appears flush to the right of
the window or even sometimes completely out of the view. Is there any way
to fix this?? It is not hurting how I use entourage, but it is a pain!!

I am using Entourage 2004 SP1 on Mac OS X 10.3.6

I've never heard of this problem before. I have a .mac account and it works
fine on the Send & Receive schedule. (It doesn't do much as LiveSync, if you
have that set, since .mac is not a "UIDPLUS" IMAP server.) Check the
Tools/Accounts/.mac account panel itself. Does it have "Include this account
in my Send & Receive schedule" box checked?

This is probably a side issue that some people have problems after viewing a
"Complex HTML" message (the ones that have a "Download pictures" link.) Quit
Entourage and relaunch. Is everything OK. Now go to your Inbox and find a
complex HTML message and try again. Is that it" If this is extremely
annoying you might prefer to turn off complex HTML in Preferences/Security,
until this is fixed.

Go to Tools > Schedules, and open your Send & Receive schedule. "Only if
connected" should be unchecked, and "Enabled" should be checked. Make sure
it is set to a repeating schedule, every five minutes. Make sure there is
an action to receive mail from your .Mac account. Click the "Account
Options" button, and make sure that the Inbox is checked.
2. Whenever I open up a new window to write an e-mail message or a new

That's strange. Try quitting and re-launching Entourage. I think this has
occurred for some users after reading a complex HTML message.

That fixed the account problem - thanks.
Is there any word on when Microsoft will fix the Complex HTML screwing up
the display issue?

Deva, I and several others have posted detailed information about this
problem. As you're probably aware, it affects email, tasks and the calendar
functions, and it goes deeper than simply right-justifying text. In some
cases, you can't even read what's there.

To date Microsoft has made no public statement about the problem. And
worse, no real fix exists other than to completely turn off HTML-formatting
-- not something most users want. We're just hoping that this issue (which
BTW is officially "Bug 232") is fixed in the next release. It's entirely
frustrating to work with.

Thanks Craig, I was not able to find your description on the discussion
board I will keep searching. Thank you very much.
