Authentication Failed error

When I try to send/recieve mail in entourage I get the message "the
server for your account returned the error authentication failed. Your
user name/password or security settings may be incorrect." It's worked
perfectly for 2 years until now. When I tried to switch identities,
after I set up a new one, it eventually stopped sending messages. Have
I lost the ability to export any of my contacts/notes from the original
identity? I did not make a backup of these and when I try to export
them, I get a missing file message. I don't have a clue where to start.

I would start by launching the Keychain Access app and using the
Keychain first aid command to repair it. The entry for this account
might be corrupted.
