Authentication problem with Project Server 2003 and collabration.

Hi,

I have Microsoft Project 2003 Server installed on Windows 2003 Server.
Now, I can access microsoft project server 2003 via internal website fine:
for ex: http://mymachine.projectserver.com/projectserver it works fine via
this - but when I use Microsoft Office Project 2003 Professional client and
use the collabration from there it gives me an error saying it can't connect
to project server 2003. Now, I have noticed that when I click on Anonymous
Aceess on Directory Security for the project server directory under IIS -
the collabration part of Microsoft Office Project 2003 professional works
but then I can't login through internal website:
http://mymachine.projectserver.com/projectserver .

I think there is something in Authentication somewhere but I can't seem to
figure it out.

Can anyone please help me out with this?

Thank you,

To set up access for the Project Professional using Windows
Authentication the following need to be set on the client:
1. The site is added to 'Trusted Sites' (Tools > Internet Options >
Security)
2. The security for 'Trusted Sites' is set to 'Automatic logon with
current username and password'. This is set by clicking 'Custom
level...' button on the 'Trusted Sites' settings form. (Tools >
Internet Options > Security)
3. Test that you can open the site in the web browser without any
prompts for authentication. Authentication prompts are not displayed
using Project Professional, the connection just fails.

I would not suggest changing to Anonymous Access in IIS. The install
guide does have a section on setting up logon with a different user
account. This involves setting up basic authentication. There is also
a section on setting up Extranet access that details authentication
changes. Outside of this I would say you are going into
uncharted/unsupported territory.

Hopefully this helps.
