This is probably a very simple question but i am tired of trying to figure it out. I am trying to auto assign emails adresses so that when they arrive they are automatically sorted into different folders and/or just different colors according to the category I assign the color to. Lately I have been assigning the color automatically and the placing it into the folder everytime an email would come in but it is too time consuming. Can someone please help me. On top of every email that comes in i have to organize i still have over 1000 old emails i still need to organize and i do not want to do it manually. Thanks so much for the help

Select the contact in your Address Book. It's easy to select many at the
same time using Command-select. Assign a category. If it's a new contact,
use the shortcut Command-Option-C to add contact to Address Book. Assign
category. Save.

Next create a rule. See this example.

<http://www.entourage.mvps.org/rules/example/rule002.html>

Select all messages and using the contextual menu, select Run All Rules.

All of your contacts need a category assigned. You can't make subfolders for
categories, but you can use a naming convention like this:

Personal: family
Personal: bills
Personal: medical

Try to keep your categories limited to broad terms. You can get too many
categories. :)
