Auto increase the field number by one after opening the MS word

Hi,

I have a purchase order word template. In .dot template, there is a purchase
order number area that is required to be auto incremental by one after each
opening this word template. e.g. the last purchase order number is 20, then
when opening the template it should automatically change to 21.

I tried to achieve this but no luck so far. Could someone please shade some
light on this?
