Auto Response

I set up an auto response with a second identity using Rules in
Entourage 11.3.3 (via Exchange server), however the replies
only go through when I have the mailbox open.
If I switch identities, the auto responses do not go through.
Is there a way of getting around this short of leaving Identity #2
open all the time?
