AutoArchive not archivin'

K

Kenneth

Howdy,

I run OL2K...

I just set the AutoArchive property of a particular folder to remove
messages older than one week.

I then closed, and re-launched Outlook, but no archiving happened, and
there are many messages in the folder far older than the one week
criterion that it displays in its properties.

What might I be missing here?

Thanks,

Hello again,

I neglected to mention that yes, I turned AutoArchiving ON in Tools |
Options.

Thanks,

Check the Modified date of the messages. That's what AutoArchive checks
against. The "Received" date is probably the date you're seeing by default
in the view. If you've moved those messages from one folder to another,
for example, you'd have changed the modified date.

Hi Ben,

Indeed, I am seeing the "Received" date, but I have checked the
"Modified" date, and it is the same for most of the messages.

Any other thoughts?

Sincere thanks,

What happens if you manually start the AutoArchive. File | Archive |
Archive according to folder settings....

Hi Ben,

I just tried you suggestion, and it does start the archiving
process...

Might you have thoughts about why it would not start "on its own?"

Thanks again,

Well, let's eliminate the basics. If you go to Tools | Options | Other
| AutoArchive how often is it set to run AutoArchive? Do you have it set
to prompt before AutoArchive runs?

Hi Ben,

I (currently) have it set to AA every day, that is every "1" day.

Thanks again,

I'm following this thread because my auto-archive does not auto-ru
either - must start it manually. Were you able to identify the proble
and get it to run as scheduled
FYI - we have Outlook2000 clients and Exch2003

Thanks
Patrick

question: I haverules that automatically flag lots of emails and I
occasionally run arule that says to unflag all flags on messages ion a
particular folder.Would this cause the email modified dates to be
changed for every emailin the folder or just the emails that had flags
that were unflagged?Last question: is there any way to change the modified date to an olderdate (probably not, I guess)?

Yes, those rules which change the flag status on the message WOULD change
the modified date. I don't know of any obvious way to change the modified
date. You *might* be able to do it programmatically if you wrote some
VBA code to do it.
