Autofilter is not available when icon is shown.

I have three custom fields designated as task and text fields. Two fields
display an icon (red yellow or green) instead of the value. One field does
not.

We want to be able to filter on color but the PWA autofilter DOES NOT appear
when the icons are displayed. It does appear for the the field that does not
display the icon. Other than the icon, I cannot find any difference in these
three fields. How can I make autofilter available for the fields that
display an icon.

I should add that the dashboard starts at the project level. You click on
the project to get at the task details. The icons are in the second layer.
