Automate swf and gif/jpeg insertions into Powerpoint?

I know how to insert a Macromedia Flash animation into Powerpoint - but if
you have dozens, it's tedious. Pasting the gif/jpegs is simple but
again...if dozens....
Does anyone know (this may be a very naive question) if a template or some
trick exists where I could copy the swf and gif files I want in the
Powerpoint into a directory and then "automatically" create a Powerpoint
presentation that inserts them - perhaps one per page or something along that
line?

Thank you tohlz and David for your posts! Shyam's toolbox makes it much
easier to import the swf's - hopefully soon some one will come up with a
clever way to do multiples in one shot.

And the batching code for gifs/jpgs worked perfectly.
