Automated Udates - I no longer have my origianl product ID

What is up with the automatic updates? It is now trying to upgrade my
software for office, but I cannot use these programs with out a product ID.
What in the world dose Microsoft think, they are so important that people
tatoo the product ID on their body. God forbid, someone auto updates at work
and their software is lost, at home, or in New Orleans.
