Automatic insertion of area code in MS Outlook

I find it rather irritating that MS Outlook will automatically insert "(1)"
to some phone numbers. Please devise a way to switch this feature off. I do
not need it.

Uncheck that option in Outlook's dialing options.
Contacts > Actions > Call Contact > New Call...
