Automatic numbering and TOC and hidden text

I have sort of an advanced question I'm stuck on. I have a report tha
I'm formatting that is utilizing automatic numbering, however, som
sections of the report are being left out of both the document and th
TOC, so in order to keep the automatic numbering working I am creatin
the header for the section and hiding the text to keep the numbers i
sequence. However, when I generate the TOC, of course all sections ar
showing up. Does anyone know of a way to keep hidden text out of th
TOC, or another way I can manipulate this without spending hours tryin
to update the numbering myself if I ever add another section?

I realize I can also hide the text within the TOC, but the point is t
deliver it to the client so all they need to do is regenerate the TO
if any page numbers or titles have changed, they shouldn't have to hid
the text themselves. Which is also why I can't lock the TOC either.

Hi Janice

Instead of applying the hidden text font, perhaps you can make a new style
based on the current heading style but with hidden font? Then you can leave
this style out of the TOC (if you are using styles, uncheck it in the list;
if you are using levels, give this derived style 'Body Text' outline level
in the Paragraph dialog).
