Automatic responses to e-mail

I am currently using Outlook Express 6.0. Is there a way
to configure it to automatically send a reply to the
sender with a text message? For example, "Out of Office".
If this is not possible in Outlook Express, can it be
done in Outlook? If so, how? I am running XP, Home
Edition.

Thanks very much.

Automatically reply to incoming messages while out of the
office
On the Tools menu, click Out of Office Assistant.

Click I am currently Out of the Office.

In the AutoReply only once to each sender with the
following text box, type the message you want to send to
others while you are out.

In Outlook Express you have to use
Tools, Rules Wizard and then follow the screens.

OE has no such function that I'm aware of. Even with Outlook, which does, if
you don't connect to an Exchange server, there is no automatic out of office
autoreply. You'd have to spoof it with rules, and note that this means
leaving Outlook open, and connected to the internet, for the duration of
your absence.

See http://www.slipstick.com/rules/index.htm for help.
