Averaging specific catagories in a list

Hopefully this will be an easy question to answer...

I have built a huge table of software with many different categories
including price

I just need to be able to create a formula that will search the table
and give me the average price value for each individual category

for instance - average price of (game software)
- average price of (tax software)


because the data will be constantly changing, I want it to continually
update all of the categories. I'm sure there is a very simple
formula... I just don't know exactly which one will work.
