Backing up and deleting mail folders?

I want to backup some folders of email from my inbox and delete them from
entourage. I dragged the entire "Sent Items" and "Deleted Items" folders
from Entourage 2004 to my desktop and they showup with a .mbox extenstion.
Will I be able to restore everything contained in them at a later time if I
simply drag them back in? Any issues with doing this?

Thanks!

Yes.

Well, the imported mailbox won't automatically combine or replace your
existing "Sent Items" & "Deleted Items" folder, so you'd have to move
messages and delete duplicates manually if necessary. But you shouldn't
need to worry about data loss.

Hi Mickey,

For clarification:

What exactly happens if I drag the "Deleted Items" .mbox file from my
desktop into Entourage? Will it create a second Deleted Items folder in
Entourage? And there is not change of it overwriting the folder currently in
Entourage?

Thanks!

No chance of overwriting under any circumstance. If you drag it into the top
level ("On My Computer") - or double-click it - it will create a "Deleted
Items 1" folder. You can then select all its messages into Deleted Items and
then delete the empty folder. Or you can drag it _into_ a folder (including
Deleted Items itself) where it will become a subfolder called "Deleted
Items". Again, select all and move to the main Delete Items folder.
