backing up files

Hi,

I have a whole heap of emails plus attachments saved in Entourage but
need to back them up somehow becasue I'm getting a new harddrive put
in my computer. Can anyone tell me where I access the emails I've
saved - I mean are they stored somewhere on my harddrive?

Any help much appreciated.

All Entourage data is stored in the Microsoft User Data folder, located
here:
(OS 8/9) /Documents/Microsoft User Data/

(OS X or OS 9 with Multiple Users) /Users/<Your User>/Documents/Microsoft
User Data/

You can simply copy this folder to another drive to back all data up. Then,
when the new hard drive is installed, drag it back to the appropriate
Documents folder to access your data.

I went to the location you suggested:

User Data/

.... but I couldn't see any of my saved emails in any of the folders.
There was a folder called saved attachments and there were a few files
in there but I have saved a heap of my emails including their
attachments, but I can't seem to find them.

Am I looking in the right place?

Yes. All of your data is actually stored in the Office (Your Version)
Identities/<Your Identity>/ folder. It is all stored in the single Database
file (and some in the Messages file if you use Entourage 2001). By copying
the entire Microsoft User Data you ensure that all of your data is backed up
and can be restored.
