Backup Address book

Michael

Can anyone help?

I have my address book set up to do mass mailings to our association
membership; about 250 recipients. I have them grouped alphabetically in nine
folders.

When I choose "export contacts" to backup, entourage only exports those
addresses that are not in the group folders.

As the list grows I add new addresses directly into the appropriate folder.
That is to say they are not selected from the address book per se.

How can I backup the groups?

Thanks in advance,
Michael

A few ways:

1. Back up your Identity folder in HD/Users/[username]/Documents/Microsoft
User Data/Office X Identities/. That backs up _everything_ and is something
you should be doing anyway,

2. There are some free scripts by Allen Watson - Export Address Groups and
Import Address Groups - that will export the info as a text file and bring
it back in. They don't preserve the "contact connection" (the contact icon)
for those that are contacts - they will recreate everyone with an @ icon.
The scripts are hard to find, but I tracked them down here:
<http://members.thinkaccess.net/[email protected]/Scripts/Entourag
e%20Scripts/Contacts/> ,You'd never find them from the main page.

3. My own Export-Import Entourage scripts (shareware) contain scripts which
export and import groups to and from text files, preserving contact
connections and categories, and with another script that will import the
groups into Excel. You should keep the text file for re-importing into
Entourage. At
