Backup of Main Identity folder is unreadable

Running Office 2004 on OSX 10.3.5. Backup of Main Identity onto a CD-RW
with Roxio Toast 5.2.3 ISO 9660 setting (CD-ROM XA format, allow macintosh
names, use apple extensions) produces an unreadable Database file. The file
is the same size but is a "Unix executable file" rather than a "Microsoft
Entourage database" file. Entourage will not read it when the Main Identity
folder is replaced with the backed up folder.
Am I missing something obvious?

It almost definitely sounds like your resource forks are not being
copied. Don't use ISO 9660- Use "Mac Only" or "Mac and PC" and you
should be fine.
