balance of columns and rows

P

Peter Schuddeboom

On opening a new sheet in a workbook, this is always
opened with 2^24 cells 2^8 columns by 2^16 rows).
I understand that the number of cells is a constant, but
is there a possibility to change the proportional balance
between cells and rows (i.e. p.e. to change 2^8 col. by
2^16 rows to 2^10 col. by 2^14 rows).

Thanks

Currently Excel does not support more than 256 rows.

You can hide rows/columns to make them more "proportional" but there is no
way of getting rid of them altogether.

I know the poster knew you meant the limit is 256 columns (not rows)
but someone else might start mixing up rows and columns who is not
as familiar with English.
