I 'm looking at the ORK for Office 2003, with a view to creating an
automated setup for a ~25-user riollout.
I'm able to do most of what I need, but the thing that's defeated me so far
is to find a scripted way of banishing those popup-sidebars.
There don't seem to be any options for this, either in the setup-transform
or in the user-settings controls.
To do so manually involves unticking "Startup Task Pane" in the Options,
and also replacing two interface items, the New.. item on the File.. menu,
and the New.. button on the toolbar. These last two are time-consuming, so an
automated route would be a big help.
Reason BTW is that the machines are for a typing-pool with very high
throughput, and these sidebars are a serious hindrance to quickly selecting a
document or template in the standard manner.
If I could find the relevant registry-keys that might help.
