Basic newsreading questions

1.) How do I set it up so when viewing newsgroups, the threads are not all
expanded by default?

2.) How do I set it up so that all threads are grouped by the topic, so
there is a topic and all the replies to it below it, so I can choose to
expand that topic or close it. Also I would like for the most recent topics
to appear at the bottom of the screen.

(The following assumes you are using Entourage 2004, as what you wish can
only be accomplished with that version. In the future, please state which
version of Entourage you are using.)

Go to View > Arrange By > Edit Custom Arrangements. Create an arrangement
like this:

Group items by: Subject
Sort groups by: Sent Oldest on Top
Sort items within groups by: Sent Oldest on Top
Default display for groups: Collapsed

Name the arrangement, and click OK. Then, when you open a newsgroup, go to
View > Arrange By > <Your Custom Arrangement>.

Is there a way to make the new custom view the default view for all
newsgroups visited?

Nope. Each time you link to a new newsgroup you have to set the view
individually. No way to create a default that applies to all newsgroups.
Send Feedback to MS. This would be a good feature.

That's what I did the moment I started using Entourage. I feel it's the best
way of viewing newsgroup messages.
