Batch printing calendar events with notes

Anyone had success in printing a series of events and notes from
different time periods as a batch? In other words, have you been able
to print a jan event with a note, a may, etc.?

Hi,

I'm not exactly sure what you are trying to do, but what you describe might
be doable with custom views. If you go to File>New>Custom View, you can
select what kind of items you would like to filter (in this case messages
and notes) and then specify a few criteria to single out these items. I
don't know if all these items you'd like to print have anything in common,
such as a subject line, or a recurring date, but if they have, you should be
able to regroup them all under a single custom view. Go to either the
Project Center in Entourage 2004 or the Custom Views section in Entourage
v.X *, select the custom view you've just created, wait for Entourage to
show you all the related items, then hit Cmd+A to select them all and Cmd+P
to print them.

* Always mention which version of Entourage and Mac OS X you are using.

Thanks, Michel.
Custom views works for many issues, but I've not been able to specify
that it print notes along with events. The only way to print a note in
Entourage is to open it and print, and that's way too time-consuming.
I have been able to export Entourage to iCal and print from there; iCal
does permit printing the calendar events, with notes, in selected
ranges. But that's also time-consuming, and then there's the sync
issue. I have not been successful at getting sync to work with iCal;
I'm running 10.4.7 and latest patches etc. to Entourage, latest version
of office for powerpc macs. Thoughts?

Hi Jim,

oh, you meant the notes that belong to calendar events? Sorry, I thought you
meant Entourage notes, those text snippets that have their own section in
Entourage (to the left of the Tasks button). I've just tried printing a
calendar custom view, and you're right, they cannot be batch-printed, so you
will need to print them individually. The good news is that if you print
them individually, the notes will show; however, I can understand that
opening and printing many events individually is not only a waste of time,
but also a waste of paper.

Depending on how many calendar items you'd like to print, you could drag
items from a custom view into a TextEdit window, where the event will be
listed alongside the location and the corresponding note (which, strangely
enough, does not appear to be working with tasks. Hm...). Alternatively, if
you're using Mac OS X Tiger and Entourage 2004, you might want to consider
activating Entourage's Sync Services to make sure Entourage and iCal have
the same calendar data. That way, you would only have to open iCal, select
the desired entries and print them without having to import events every
time. Sorry for not being more helpful; maybe someone else will come along
and give you more useful advice.

Thanks for the text edit solution, Michel. While it's still
time-consuming, it does at least allow me to choose and group calendar
events, along with their notes, and print the bunch. True, categories
and projects disappear -- but they do in iCal also. I have not been
able to make sync work, but I'll give that a try again.
