Hi all, I am having problems with Mac Mail so am thinking of switching to Entourage which i have as part of Office 2004.
There seems to be a lot of stuff with Entourage that i do not need, My question is,
Can I install just and only the fully functional email side of things?
I do not want anything else that is offered whatever that may be.
Plain and simple, fully functional eMail only or not?

Hi,

you cannot install the email component of Entourage only; you will need to
install the entire application if you want to use it. However, you can
decide to use the email component exclusively. There is absolutely no
problem using Entourage for email and, say, iCal for your calendar entries
and to dos. If you enable Sync Services in Entourage, it will automatically
synch its contact list with Apple's Address Book, so you don't even have to
deal with Entourage's contact list if you do not want to.

Honestly, if you're only using e-mail, Mac Mail is better than
Entourage's. The advantage Entourage provides is all the other stuff -
links, categories, projects, interface consistency but there are a lot
of problems with Entourage 08. Scan this and other forums related to
Microsoft Office. Many users, in frustration, have switched off
Entourage for reasons well beyond mail. For your needs, I certainly
wouldn't switch to Entourage unless you need Entourage's power.

If Mac Mail is acting up, post to the Apple Mac mail forum or scan the
forum to see if your issue is discussed. If you're under warranty or
have the extended care warranty, talking to an Apple rep is a piece of
cake or you can even take your computer to the Genius bar in an Apple
store and sign up for free training. You will not find Microsoft, in
any way, this accommodating.
