Best way to reduce size of Entourage user Database

I'm running Entourage 2004 11.2.3 (060209) and I'm looking for the best way
to reduce my Entourage database.

I've cleaned out my "sent" folders, trash folder, IMAP and POP. Nothing
seems to affect the size of the Database in the Main Identities folder.

What am I missing?

When you delete emails, the size of the database does not, as one might
expect, go down; instead, it remains the same. Entourage will overwrite the
space you've created (by deleting your old messages) when new messages
arrive, so in other words, your database will remain the same size for some
time, until all the freed space has effectively been overwritten.

If you are impatient and really want to reduce your database's file size,
hold down the option key when launching Entourage, and the Database Utility
will launch. Choose the "compact database" option, and your database size
will go down.

I've found that the best method for decreasing database size (although
a little more involved) is to use the export/archive feature and create
a new identity, import the data and start fresh. I have several users
that I support that are email pack rats with upwards of 3gb of mail
using this method I have been able to reduce the size of their identity
to under 1gb. Although 11.2.3 "supposedly" supports an unlimited
database size I have experienced that Entourag becomes very flakey if
the size is to exceed 2gb.

Hope this helps!

That worked...and everything looks fine (notes, calendar entries, to-do,
contacts & groups, etc.)

Thanks!
