big mess!!help!

I am in a real big mess. I just spent 4 days on a huge macro and I
accidentally gave two textboxes the same name. When I ran the macro, I got a
"DUplicate ~" error. I couldn't open the form and I saved the template and
quit word. Now, when I try to open any macro from that template, word simply
quits (the usual tell MS about this problem) box. How do I recover the file??
My backup dates back a week and I can't remember all the changes I made!
Please help!

Never mind! Finally got it working. I took the macro to a Win 98 machine
running an older version of Word. Went to the VB editor, opened the template
and it was successful! I could open the form too. Deleted the duplicate TB and
saved. Brought the template back to my machine and voila!

Relieved!

Good Vince, if the document is not protected I guess you could press
CTRL+BREAK and get into Visual Basic Editor.

Anand / Graham,

Thanks a lot! Anand, the macro was protected but Win98 could still open it in
the VB editor (after I entered the password). Strange, but whatever! So long
as I don't have to recode!

Hi Vince,

By the way which version of word you were using any way.

Any way as long as there is no re-coding is saves a lot of tension and
headeace right.

Office XP on the one that crashed as soon as I opened the macro and Office
2000 on the one that saved me plenty of time!

Just curious here,
did you try to set the security to High and them open your template?
When the message pops up about the macro, disable them. Then you should have
access to the VBE, no?

Salut!

Really? I didn't know that. My security on both the XP and 98 machine were
low. 98 opened it and XP have me that horrid "Microsoft Word needs to close.
Tell M$ About this problem...." message. I didn't try setting the Macro
security settings to low. I'll remember this for next time (God forbid).
