I have spread sheets full of Binary and hex numbers.
I need to do some adding, and subtracting.
Is there a way to perform arithetic on Binary or Hex in Excel 2002?

I don't know. But what about converting them to base 10, doing your math, and
then converting back to the original base?

Excel has some built-in conversion routines which could be used either in a
worksheet, or as part of a VBA macro (with a reference to the analysis tool
pak).

Whether they will work or not depends on the range of your numbers, and whether
you need to include decimals.

If the range is excessive for Excel, and/or if you need to include decimals, I
have a base conversion routine that could be incorporated.

Thanks Ron. I have begun converting to decimal numbers and will do the math
and convert back.
A few extra steps but it does work.

Great! Post back if you find Excel's conversion routines limited
