Bitmap in my signature.

Help please.

When I create a signature with a bitmap in it.
I have to have word enabled as my email editor.
eg, TOOLS / MAIL FORMAT / tick Use Microsoft word to edit
emails.

this is well and fine, however doing this disables the
option to manually insert a signature....
eg when replying to an email INSERT / SIGNATURE / ..

can someone tell me if this is Microsofts way of enhancing
an application or is there somthing Im not doing ??
