Blackberry and Macintosh

I have a Blackberry 7280 through AT&T/Cingular. I use a Mac G-4 with OS
10.3.6 and MS Office for Mac 2004. My data is in Entourage. I have a cheap
Win XP machine with Outlook, and through a script authored by Paul
Berkowitz, move my Entourage data to the Outlook on the Win XP and then
synch with Blackberry. It works fine, but is cumbersome and lots of steps.
Now with that preface, here¹s the question: I have recently heard of a new
software product called ³Pocket Mac², which allows one to synch Blackberry
with Mac Applications, Entourage as well as ICAL, Address Book, etc. It¹s
downloadable for $30 at
http://www.pocketmac.net/products/pmblackberry/indexg.html
I don¹t mind spending the $30 if it works, but I¹m afraid of messing up my
Entourage as well as my Blackberry. Question: does anyone have experience
with this product?? Thanks/Hal Kushner MD

I bought PocketMac for use with an Audiovox SMT5600 Windows Mobile
smartphone. PocketMac installed fine, and mounts the smartphone as a
volume in FInder-- but the sync doesn't work, and never has. Their
technical support hasn't answered my mail since 11/23, and they have not
responded to my request for a refund.

I know a few other people who have used PocketMac successfully with
BlackBerry devices, but I'd recommend saving your $30.

Cheers,
-Paul

Hi

I¹d have to disagree I bought it a couple of weeks ago to sync my
Blackberry 7100v device with Entourage X, and it works fine. But then, all
I want to do is sync my contacts, calendars and stickies.

My only question was how do I install programs on the blackberry when most
of them are provided in compressed windows files, and they responded pretty
quickly within a day they told me it was planned for a future release, to
coincide with the release of Tiger.

Hope this helps.

The Cingular Blackberry people referred me to SncAgain www.eicad.com I
don't think it syncs with entourage but will sync with MAC address book
and calendar

That seems to be www.epicad.com (not eicad) (And it's called SyncAgain, not
SncAgain.). It seems to require a BlackBerry Enterprise Server at the moment
- not an option except for companies. But they're promising a consumer
standalone version soon. It looks like that would work with my Sync
Entourage scripts.

I bought PocketMac's GoBetween to synch between Entourage and Mac's
native programs--iCal and Address book--because I was having a problem
getting the Entourage Palm conduit to work. The GoBetween never worked
and continual emails to Pocketmac have been ignored. I'm going to get
my credit card company to stop payment on this. Save your money. Try to
find something on Paul Berkowitz's site to help you. It works.
