blank pictures - just frames

my buddy just sent me a word documetn with pictures. All I see in print
layout is the frames. when I hit print preview, they are there as well as
when I print. check the view settings udner options, can't seem to find any
other possiblity. any suggestions

Make sure "Picture placeholders" is not checked on the View tab of Tools |
Options.
