I keep getting spam junk mail with the subject line with "<no subject>". I
set rules for this to be deleted, but it doesn't work. I am using version
2004. Anyone have any answers on this?
The subject of a message with no subject is not actually "<no subject>".
That's just a display feature. The subject is actually "". Since quotes are
not used in Rules, the Rule should actually specify that the
Subject Is
- and just leave it blank. Unfortunately, the Rules assistant won't ever let
you leave text fields blank - it tells you you need a value. (While that
makes sense for "Contains" - after all every subject contains "" so trouble
would ensue - it's wrong of it not allow for this criterion. It's a BUG, in
my opinion, except it was clearly designed that way. So let's call it BAD
DESIGN.)
As a workaround, I thin this should work except in the most obscure of
cases:
Match if ALL criteria are met:
Subject Does not contain a
Subject Does not contain e
Subject Does not contain i
Subject Does not contain o
Subject Does not contain u
Subject Does not contain " "
Don't use quotes in the last one, just type a space. It won't error.
If you're accustomed to getting messages titled "5" or "." add those two.
This should take care of it.
