Blocked senders list doesn't work

Mine has worked just fine, but I'm using a POP server. I
haven't had any problems yet.

No, it isn't because of the rules... The only rules I have

setup so far are to delete or permanently delete messages,
so if any of these messages were caught by a rule before
the list kicked in, it would have been deleted... I can
only conclude that the list filtering is a fake. Can anyone
here confirm that the blocked senders list is actually
doing its job for him/her?

I can't imagine I am doing anything wrong - am I? (I'm

using an IMAP server, not POP - would this be the reason?)

If the list indeed doesn't work, then the main incentive

to stick it out with Outlook is gone for me and I'm going
back to Thunderbird...
